i don't know if you come to notice this too.. but some old sailors i've met have small green and blue dots tattoos, printed at the base of their thumbs. do you know what those dots mean? and do you know any other sailor tattoos?

Well, there really are some traditional sailor tattoos but i am not aware of those dots on the thumbs! i havent heard of those yet.. But as a mere guess, they probably just stabbed themselves with their pencils to create those as sailing navigation hazards..

it could be that during those days, or maybe even until today, it is
illegal for sailors to get a tattoo below their wrists.. that's why the
small ones on their thumbs might be acts of defiance or something.. NOT
REALLY SURE!

maybe its there sign of being a sailor
or
if they are making a handshake they are going to connect that dots to each other and something will happen to them

Let me have a guess too. Maybe each dot would signify the number of times they have sailed. One dot would mean one tough sailing experience too.

You are really funny! Do sailors really practice that? I haven't heard about that before.
