which is a better pick when it comes to providing more power? a wind generator or a solar panel? but the way i see it, solar has more reliable power bcz the sun is always der, unlike the wind, you cant depend on it always. but w/c one is really easier to maintain and w/c one eats up a smaller space?

hmm, i guess the choice would depend on where you're sailing. they are both good and each has benefits and disadvantages. a solar is easier to mount, totally quiet and w/o moving parts dat cud possibly break. the wind generator though, works well at night and can give u higher output. but actually, iam still using solar, and im happy with it haha

we have stood near other boats using wind generators. so NOISY!! a friend of mine also told me that thre was once a crew strucked by a spinning blade. luckily he survive. but that's how wind generators are, dangerous!

yess, ur decision will greatly depend on your sailing grounds. like, if ur sailing most of the time to Bahamas and the east coast, then go for solar panel since ul get the amount of sun u need 2 keep ur batteries in good cond. plus u wont have to deal wit maintenance, risk, noise involved in wind generators. but if u're going somewher wer trade winds blow consistently w/ no full presence of the sun all day, like in the Caribbean, then opt for a wind generator. always check if ther is a reliable breeze or not. and oooh! solar is just too expensive

same, it depends on where you cruise and the weather when u cruise! a wind generator needs plenty of wind (of course) & a solar panel needs lots of sun. There are always pros & cons for each. The most impt decision if you would consider a wind generator is to determine whether or not there is actually ENOUGH wind to generate the power to satisfy the needs of your batteries. On the other hand, a solar panel produces power only when the sun shines. But wind generator can potentially provide power lasting for 24 hours.
