Hi to you all cruising experts! Just a question.. Though i'd like to use the conventional anchor light, i learned that the US Coast Guards do not allow to mark an anchored boat . But i also don't like to burn batteries all night! Do you know of other traditional lights that are allowed?

I attempted to use a kerosene lamp before. But then i was so cared that it might burn while i was sleeping. That's why, at present, i am using the standard mast-head, all around light. And when i anchor in high risk areas, i use about 3 to 4 lights. And of course, it's better if you have more lumes.
My friend also uses LED bulbs. And i can see it works perfectly fine.

I have a total of 4 anchor lights placed on different angles of my boat. Well-distributed. But for safety purposes, it's better that you try to stay in an area that is especially designated as an anchorage. Because surely, there are many other boats there, so you'll be safe! Plus, there'll be lesser chance that you might be struck by others..

Why not try using led bulbs? They work fine in all weather and definitely, they'll make you fell safe if you're out that sailing at the sea. That's what we're using.. and I'm amaze on how bright they can be...
