I have an 8-foot Walker Bay with tube around it & i've only used it from boat to wharf. What do you guys use for an anchor? I have seen those mushroom anchors and although i think they're great, i just really don't have enough trust on them.. I've also seen those little Danforth anchors & don't feel confident with them and for me, the sharp points on them seem like an accident waiting to happen to a small dinghy. Well, what do you all use? and how often do you anchor your dinghies?

I use a 4 prong folding anchor.. it stows nicely & its small amount of chain holds so well.. i also like those small Danforth types.. when they are deployed on the beach, they have no portruding lines for the bare feet..
oooh, i've also used the mushroom type w/ no chain.. i used it along with a 16' pontoon boat in a muddy bottom. it was a success! well. like any other anchor, maybe it depends on the bottom type & conditions......

i dont think there's ever a solution for sharp points.. only care & caution! use a small fortress, like a Guardian or a Danforth, that's about 6' of chain & w/ lots of ropes..
Or use the folding grapnel anchor as a stern when docking. And u can use a light S/S wire cable painter w/ locks to tie to public docks..

i like the small mushroom type anchor for an inflatable boat. it has no sharp points around the pontoons & it's safe to be driven into the inflatable even when other gear are to be thrown on top.. i only use about 4' of chain. but i seriously think it's not necessary..

I have this lil 5-lb Danorth & it holds great on nothing but the rope! I usually just throw it away as a stern anchor to hold the dink off the dock & it always bites right in! Oh well, they were originally designed to be dropped so they can hold themselves with the beaches! So they work great as a stern anchor!
