My husband and i are planning to sail across the ocean. What kind of equipment, gear, and boat could you suggest? We're currently residing in Idaho and would wish to reach the south of Africa. How long does it usually take to get there?

take me der! as for the boat, i suggest you try them b4 you buy them. if there is a sailing org or club near you, try to volunteer as a crew, so you'll get a chance to be on several boats. Then you could go figure out some things you really like and don't like. But of course, your location and budget could be very large factors!
getting an older boat was fine with me. I liked speed, and so a Hobie 16 catamaran was just good for me. very easy to find and at reasonable rates..

with only $2k or less, u're good to go! There are lots of Hobies for sale out there. For a more traditional boat, there's an O'Day or Catalina. you'd probably prefer that if you don't want to get wet as you sail..
well well. The most important thing is to get yourself a boat and start sailing! good luck!

whoa! i could could consider these, too!
I have already started sailing few days ago. Addicting, indeed! My next plan is also to try to get a boat early next year. I just need help on what should I look for? maintenance, cost, and repair of a boat? and just other general advice?
well, basically.. I just want something manageable for day-to-day sailing and weekend cruising

If your budget is in consideration, it will probably limit you to one of the mass produced boats. but remember to consider operating conditions of the boat's sails, motor, and other equipment.
Some boats ranging from 20' to 29' are practically often sold at $400-$1000. however, the seaworthy cheaper ones may cost three times that amount. You may want to consider starting out with those. they will give you a pretty idea of what you want in your sea boat adventure!

Hi there i suggest that you consult sailing clubs or organizations near your place to ask some advise and let them go wtith you when yuo buy. also, what you plan is quite far to go. better be prepared so that you can have fun.

I also advice if you could really bring an expert when you buy. This could be someone you really know so that he could help you in maintaining you boat.

You were really planning a big deal of sailing. well, you will need quite a big amount of money and preparation. When do you plan to sail? Have you brought all you needed?

Hello take_me_der! I am just wondering. So how was the trip? Were you able to sail? How was the experience?
