I've heard about occasional thieves getting inside anchored boats. What are the possible ways to prevent these bad guys? Is having a pet going to work? how about an alarm? are there any other ways? id love to hear you experiences (if there are any)??

Luckily, i havent experienced that yet! Thieves are serious problems when sailing, but uncommon to occur though. Just be aware that it usually happens in areas where the cost of living is high enough to support those stolen goods. Some thieves may not even look like thieves at all! And you also have to be careful with whom you're sailing. My friends already told me stories that sometimes, thieves may even be your fellow cruisers! NEVER leave anything valuable on sight. That may drive the curiosity of other people. Lock up everything and avoid negligence.

Well, yes. It's good that you have a personal dock or a member of a sailing camp where the place is secured. :) Of course, valuables should be kept out of sight. :)

Theft is really unavoidable especially if people have planed to do that. well, we need to be prepared for these scenarios. we should keep the doors of each cabin locked. we should also be conscious about what are in our boats. we might not even be aware that some thing had been stolen from our boat.

Alarms would also be helpful.
