Catamaran Sailing
For people who love the sea, Catamaran Sailing is one way to enjoy crystal clear waters and a grand Sailing vacation. A Catamaran is a Sailboat with two hulls. It is usually lighter, much faster than a Sailboat with a single hull, and more stable because of the water distance from once side of the boat to another. It is usually used in open areas such as coastal waters which allow boats to keep their maximum speed.
Most Sailboats have the same principles when it comes to Sailing, but there are differences when it comes to the Catamaran. For one, Catamarans can be harder to tack. Tacking is the act of changing the direction of the Sailboat by bringing the bow into the wind. Catamarans also have a higher average speed and are less likely to capsize. Moreover, a Catamaran has two engines, one in each hull, which makes maneuvering easier than a Sailboat with one engine.
Some people find sailing Catamarans easier and more comfortable. The whole deck is usable, making the boat dry and secure. Below the deck, you can still feel comfortable even in the worst weather. Likewise, a Catamaran does not roll at anchor and can be sailed safely by two people.
However, because a Catamaran has no heeling, you won’t feel it if the boat is over-canvassed. The rule is that, one should start de-powering the main sail. To be on the safe side, put the first reef at around 20 knots of wind and the second reef at 25 knots.
Catamarans make good cruising boats. A very good reason why people enjoy going on cruises with a Catamaran is that they can enjoy so much and be confident about the safety of the cruise. Most Catamarans have large cabins and relaxing areas. They even come in standard or luxury boats.
Catamaran Sailing is surely a great experience. You can relax and enjoy the sights without worrying about the safety and stability of the vessel. Happy Sailing!
