Malta Young Sailors Club Sweeps Off Awards

The Malta Young Sailors Club has earned again the distinction of having the largest number of entries in the Malta National Dinghy Sailing Championships - and winning most of them this year.
Benji Borg from the Malta Young Sailors Club received the Joe Borg Costanzi trophy for being the best sailor in the largest adult dinghy class. Benji Borg placed first in the Laser Radial class followed by William Camilleri from Malta Young Sailors Club and Simon Aquilina of the Birzebbugia Sailing Club.
Thomas Zammit Tabona, Sean Borg, and Ella Fleri Soler from the Malta Young Sailors Club have swept the top three places in the Optimist class. Edward Fleri Soler placed first in the Optimist Cadet class, followed by Roberto Briffa from the Birzebbugia Sailing Club and Karl Miggiani from the Malta Young Sailors Club. Ella Fleri Soler and Abigail Fenech, also Malta Young Sailors Club members, topped the top two places in the girls' class. Lastly, Peter Valentino from the malta Young Sailors Club and Mario Aquilino from the Birzebbuga Sailing Club placed first and second in the Laser standard while Nicky Sammut from the Vikings Sailing Club , Matthew Scicluna from the Malta Young Sailors Club and Matthew Farrugia from the Birzebbuga Sailing Club placed first, second, and third place respectibely in the Toppers class.
Organized by the Malta Sailing Federation, this year's championships had eight races, covering three days. Sailors competed in the Optimist, Laser, Standard, and Toppers classes.
