Jacques Rogge Wins ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy

THURSDAY, 21 DECEMBER 2006

Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is the newest winner of the 2007 International Sailing Federation's Beppe Croce Trophy for his "outstanding voluntary contribution to the sport of sailing".

Rogge heads the IOC since 2001 and has been connected with the Olympic movement since 1976."I am honoured to receive this award and to join a list of such prestigious champions. Sailing has always been a real passion for me. I would like to thank ISAF for this distinction and for its dedication in promoting sailing across the globe," Rogge said.

Rogge will be awarded with the ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy by ISAF President Goran Petersson on May 4, 2007 in Paris, France. Rogge now joins the ranks of the ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy winners like Masjesties King Olav V, King Juan Carlos of Spain, and four-time Olympic gold medalist Paul Elvstrom.
