All Five Velux 5 Racers Round Cape Horn
TUESDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2007
All five Velux 5 Oceans Race competitors have already rounded Cape Horn, continuing the second leg of the longest and toughest solo race in the world.
Bernard Stamm and and Kojiro Shiraishi lead the race. Meanwhile, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Graham Dalton, and Unai Basurko are the back three of the fleet. Knox-Johnson was the first to round Cape Horn among the three. Basurko, however, was close to him with only a few miles behind. Dalton was also 50 miles behind.
Stamm, the leader of the fleet, says that he has no problems onboard. Shiraishi, on the other hand, says: "After this we have our own little 'Berlin Wall' ahead of us lying east to west just like the Doldrums.’what? Again?' is the feeling about this forecast."
