Stamm Still Leads Velux 5 Oceans Race
MONDAY, 26 FEBRUARY 2007
Swiss skipper Bernard Stamm still leads the Velux 5 Oceans Race as he sails to the coast of South America.
"For the moment there is no strategy," Stamm said. "There is still a very big high-pressure near Bermuda. Maybe I will be obliged to go around the high-pressure." Kojiro Shiraishi, racing with the Spirit of Yukoh, is located 2,179 miles to the south below the Equator. He is currently on second place.
Following Shiraishi by 1,146 miles is Unai Basurko. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is in fourth place while in fifth place is Graham Dalton. Dalton restarted racing when he left Port Stanley.
