Couple Sets Out on a 1000-day Sea Voyage

Reid Stowe, 55, and his girlfriend Soanya Ahmad, 23, have set out on a 1,000-day sea voyage aboard a 69-foot schooner named Anne last Saturday.
The couple, who is not attempting any sailing world record, is set to sail around the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. The couple is hoping to pull into harbor on January 15, 2010, and set foot on land after almost three years. The couple spent months planning their trip, and have made sure that their boat is self-sufficient.
Ahmad, a New York photographer, said that it is not about an endurance feat. "It's not about the outside world. This is not about making a record, it's not about a challenge or bravery or courage." It's more of a personal journey, she added.
