Team New Zealand Gets Penalized in LV Cup
FRIDAY, 27 APRIL 2007
Team New Zealand was penalized because of an illegal maneuver done by Dean Barker in the Louis Vuitton Cup.
The penalty led to Team New Zealand's second defeat, allowing Luna Rossa, an Italian boat, to grab a win. Team New Zealand was also beaten by another Italian boat, the Mascalzone, last week during the first round robin opening race.
BMW Oracle leads the Louis Vuitton Cup standings with 19 points, followed by Team New Zealand, Luna Rossa, and Desafio Espanol. The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup will be competing with Alinghi, the Swiss defender, in the America's Cup on June 23.
