Britain's Martin Roberts Leads One-Meter Worlds
THURSDAY, 18 OCTOBER 2007
Martin Roberts of Britain led the International One-Meter Worlds in Marseille after 12 races.
Australian skippers Brad Gibson and Craig Smith got the second and third place respectively, after three days of racing.
The wind came from a northeasterly direction on Tuesday, but with shifts at around 8-12 knots. A few protests occurred on Monday, but the skippers remained generally courteous. Although the race was delayed, both Race Committee and skippers seemed to get along well.
So far, Martin Roberts has posted four bullets in the 12 races and leads Gibson by a three-point difference. Smith is 10 points back, just of Guillaume Florent (FRA) and Guillermo Beltri (ESP).
Meanwhile, 76 skippers from 24 nations are competing in France this year.
