Sail into Summer Fundraising Event Kicks Off Today
FRIDAY, 28 MARCH 2008
The Swampscott-based sailing organization, Friends of Swampscott Sailing, will launch its first spring activity today, March 28. The event dubbed as “Sail into Summer” will be held at The Fish House on Humphrey Street, Fisherman’s Beach.
The event is in accordance to the organization’s top three goals in the next five years. Funds from the said project will be allotted for improving the sailing curriculum, developing youth racing programs at all levels, and maintaining the fleet and equipment for Swampscott’s High School Sailing team.
The Friends of Swampscott Sailing already accomplished a lot during its first four years in the sailing community. It is known for revising the Junior Sailing Curriculum, creating the Adult Sailing course, replacing Swampscott’s 15-year old fleet, and sending a crew to Marblehead Race week for the first time in 20 years.
The program includes auctions and sessions on sailing curricula. Erin Clancey, the new co-director for Intermediates, Racing, and Adult Sailing and a known high coach and lifelong sailor, will also be partaking in the activities. The organization humbly requests minimal donation from interested parties.
