Sailing Club Kicks Off with Holiday Races
THURSDAY, 24 APRIL 2008

Lake Davenport Sailing Club will have its Grand Opening Sailboat Races on Memorial Day Weekend - May 25th and 26th.
The races will be two races on Sunday: 1 & 3pm and three races on Monday: 10:30, 1pm with another immediately after the conclusion of the 1pm race.
Come on down to the Clubhouse at the bottom of Bridge Ave, 1255 E. River Dr, a half hour before the posted times and enjoy watching the sailboats being hoisted into the Mississippi River from their dry dock slips. There is great viewing from the clubhouse grounds and also on top of Prospect Park.
The boats will be the 20' C-Scows, sailed by the skipper and 1 or 2 others. The 16' MC-Scows, sailed by the skipper and possibly another if the wind picks up. There will be Catamarans, the Sailing School's Hunters, and a variety of other boats. You will get a chance to look these boats over up close and talk with the sailors.
Look at the Hunters for the possibility of sailing them by signing up for the Sailing School 2 week coarse starting in June or July (the dates are determined on the availability of Instructors and the River).
There will also be the possible viewing of the nostalgic wooden 28' E-Scow, sailed with three sails and five sailors on a brisk day.
