Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta in Falmouth

This year's Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta will have Falmouth as its host port, in part of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Madeira's first settlement in this Portuguese island. The Tall Ships will assemble at the South West Coast of England's Port of Falmouth from the 10th to the 13th of September, to race to Port of Aveiro in Portugal from the 20th to the 23rd of September, and finally racing to Funchal, Madeira where festivities will commence from the 2nd to the 5th of October.
Organized by Sail Training International, the 25 Tall Ships will be open to the public from the 10th to the 12th of September. The Parade of Sail and Race will then occur the following day and it will proceed to the Bay for the scheduled 5pm race. Visitors may opt to hop onboard for ship visits, enjoy musical entertainment or watch an impressive feature of fireworks display.
