2009 Steamboat Springs Stage Race

Steamboat Springs, CO – Moots Cycles and the Steamboat Springs Bicycle Stage Race organizers announced today Moots' commitment as presenting sponsor for the road stage race to be held in Steamboat Springs, CO over the 2009 Labor Day Holiday weekend.
Scheduled for September 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, the inaugural Steamboat Springs Stage Race is sanctioned by the American Cycling Association (ACA). The four-day stage race includes Friday's Aspire individual time trial, Saturday's Marabou Ranch circuit race, Sunday's Moots road race and Monday's Ski & Bike Kare criterium. Standard stage race format will be followed with overall general classification calculated by time. All participants must be licensed by the American Cycling Association.

Professional and amateur categories will complete for a minimum $5000 G.C. cash purse plus additional merchandise prizes. All registered athletes who start the individual time trial are automatically entered to win a custom Moots Vamoots or Compact road frame. Event registration is $100.00 before August 1, 2009. Pre-registration is required and now open online at www.bikereg.com. Race category field limit is 75.
"It's exciting to bring road stage racing back to Colorado with this event," said Corey Piscopo race promoter and competitive cyclist. "Steamboat is an ideal venue. The courses are fun, safe, and challenging, coupled with amazing scenery. The cooperation I’ve experienced working with local officials, business owners, and the local advocacy group, Routt County Riders, has been truly remarkable."
Supporting event sponsors include: Aspire Performance Sports Medicine, Black Tie Ski Rentals, Marabou Ranch, Orange Peel Bicycle Service, Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center, and Steamboat Ski & Bike Kare. Associate sponsors include: Ace at the Curve, Alpha Q, Honey Stinger, Prudential Steamboat Reality, Ski Haus and Steve Green Co. Additional event sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Event organizers are in need of volunteer course marshals, EMTs and drivers for support vehicles.
Proceeds from the race will help support the 2010 Steamboat Springs Stage Race and benefit several local charities including, Routt County Riders, the Steamboat Winter Sports Club Cycling, and Yampa Valley Community Foundation.
